What is the International Steinway Festival 2012?
The festival is an important biennial event organized by Steinway & Sons in Hamburg, Germany to identify, encourage and promote young pianists in the formative stages of their careers. In 2012, various countries will be running national-level auditions to determine their representatives for the International Steinway Festival in Hamburg. Here in Asia, the Steinway Regional Finals promises to be one of the largest events of its kind. Hosted by Steinway Gallery Singapore, the Steinway Regional Finals involves finalists from the 8 nations, and offers attractive prizes and an opportunity for the 1st prize winner to perform alongside representatives of several European nations
When are these Asian National & Regional Competitions?
In the national competitions, local Steinway dealers will administer countrywide auditions in the following Asian countries: Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand & Vietnam. (Auditions for China and Japan are managed under separate auspices.)
Each country will select one representative to compete in the Steinway Regional Finals in Singapore, held at the concert hall of Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore.

Audition Repertoire Requirements
- Participants must present 3 contrasting selections totaling a maximum playing time of 20 minutes.
- Repertoire must include the first movement of a Sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Clementi or Schubert.
- All pertinent program details (Composer, Work, Key, Op., No., Hob., K.designations) for each movement of the work intended for performance must be listed.
- No concerto or transcriptions are allowed.
- Participants are required to perform the exact same repertoire for further stages of the competition.

- Attach a passport size photo to the application form
- Create a photocopy of your passport or birth certificate
- Attain a Letter of Recommendation from your current / most recent piano teacher

Regulations
- The Singapore Steinway Youth Piano Competition is only opened to all Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents aged 17 and below.
- All application forms must be collected from Steinway Gallery Singapore.
- Only original application forms will be accepted.
- All participants must fulfill a live recording of their audition at Steinway Gallery Singapore.
- Recording of auditions will be completed in a one-take format with no repeats to ensure fairness to all participants.
- All decisions of the Jury are final.
