A CLASSICAL NIGHT WITH SWISS-SINGAPOREAN PIANIST RAHEL SENN
Steinway Gallery Singapore and The Embassy of Switzerland presents A Classical Night by Swiss-Singaporean Pianist, Young Steinway Artist Rahel Senn.
Rahel Johanna Kai Zhiah Senn was born on in September 1986 as the daughter of a Swiss father and a Singaporean mother. She grew up in Zurich in a multicultural and multilingual environment. It was only through music that the young pianist and composer found a language to express herself sincerely.
Rahel Senn has been trained in classical piano by Konstantin Lifschitz at the University of
Lucerne. She graduated with a Master of Arts in 2011 and has been performing in Asia, South-America and Europe since then. Her repertoire is wide and reaches from classical to pop.
She composed her first musical “Totaler Wahnsinn!” at the age of 17 and has therefore been awarded an “Outstanding student-award” by the Canton of Zurich. Her second musical “Sanskaja” has been performed about a dozen times on an extended Switzerland-tour, premiering at the renowned Volkshaus in Zurich. “Save tha gryphon”, Rahel Senn’s third work of the same genre, has been ordered by Singapore’s Raffled Institution.
Rahel Senn has published four CDs containing her own piano compositions and a novel about Albert Einstein’s son Eduard who suffered from lifelong schizophrenia (“Der kleine Tete”, Elster Verlag 2015).
She has been exclusively signed to Sony Classical and Sony Music Germany in 2017. Her first album under the major-label is expected to appear in fall 2019; various singles of the upcoming album have already been published. Rahel Senn was named “Young Steinway Artist” in 2012.
