HOW TO WRITE A HIT SONG?

A song writing worshop by Steinway Artist – Dick Lee, bought to you by Steinway Gallery Singapore.

Immerse yourself in the art of song writing. Hone your craft in song forms, melodies, the interaction and use of rhythm and harmony and lyric writing.

Under the direction of Dick Lee, a singer-songwriter, you will receive professional support and feedback on your original material.

ELIGIBILITY

This workshop is open to all musicians, composer and pianists.

  • Songwriters who want to write a hit song may sign up as “Performer” and submit your work in the form below.
  • All music lovers who wants to attend this workshop may sign up as “Observer” and we will send you an email invitation of the livestream on 22nd February 2021.

RULES & REGULATIONS

  • Only one entry per person is permitted
  • Only 3 shortlisted particpants will have the chance to perform live in the gallery.
  • Entries received after the stated closing date will not be accepted.
  • Email us at events@steinway-gallery.com.sg if you have any questions with video submission.
  • Steinway Gallery Singapore reserves the right to hold void, cancel, suspend, or amend the event where it becomes necessary to do so.
  • Steinway Gallery Singapore reserves the right to refuse entry, or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.

Competition Requirements

Categories

  • Category 1 – Ages 11 and below (i.e. born on or after January 1, 2011)
  • Category 2 – Ages 12 to 14 (i.e. born between and inclusive of January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2010)
  • Category 3 – Ages 15 to 17 (i.e. born between and inclusive of January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2007)

Repertoire requirements

  • Participants must present 3 contrasting selections.
  • Repertoire must include the first movement of a Sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Clementi, or Schubert.
  • No concerti or transcriptions are allowed.
  • Participants are required to perform the exact same repertoire for further stages of the competition.
  • Auditions will be conducted in a continuous, live-recording manner. Re-takes are not allowed.

Maximum 20 minutes
