Join Steinway Gallery and Sing’theatre to celebrate the season of giving with a heart-warming show featuring talented singers singing some festive and musical theatre classics. Presented through an enchanting story of a family enjoying the gift of a brand-new Steinway piano.
This is a special performance suitable for all families.
SYNOPSIS
TJ enters and speaks to the audience how he has surprised his family and bought a brand new Steinway for Xmas. He tells of his childhood days learning the piano and how it is such a dream to own such a wonderful instrument. He says how playing piano is like “Electricity” Running through his veins. Electricity – Billy Elliot. (TJ)
Jenilee arrives and see the new piano and is thrilled. They exchange some romantic stories of their past and how they met when TJ was playing piano in a hotel lobby. White Christmas – Duet (TJ&Jenilee)
The Kids run downstairs to open their gifts and see the piano. They are so excited. They want to play but the house is not looking like Christmas yet so TJ says they can play once this place looks like Christmas. We Need a Little Christmas – Glee. (TJ&Jenilee&Nanami&Sam) During the song the cast bring out presents and a Christmas tree around the piano.
The children want to learn how to play the piano so they sit down at the piano and TJ teaches them how to play do re mi.
Do Re Mi – The Sound Of Music. (TJ&Nanami&Sam)
It is time to open gifts. Nanami goes to open her gift but states that she wants a Hippopotamus for Christmas and everyone is shocked.
I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas. (Nanami)
Samantha gets a microphone for Xmas and says she is too shy to use it. But she really is the opposite and proceeds to do a confident performance. Shy – Once Upon A Mattress.
The Kids as dad what he wants for Christmas and he says that everything they want is right here in this house.
You Two – Chitty Bang Bang (TJ&Jenilee&Nanami&Sam)
TJ says its time for mums famous Carolling now with the special piano. Silent Night/Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. (Jenilee)
It’s almost time to get ready to welcome the guests so everyone has to go get ready but let’s sing one last song before we go.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year (TJ&Jenilee&Nanami&Sam)
TJ graduated with a First-Class Honours Degree in Musical Theatre from Blackpool and the Fylde College in the UK. He is currently studying towards a Postgraduate certificate in Arts Education at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
He has lived in Singapore for 5 years and in that time has worked with several art schools developing singing and musical theatre programmes for children and adults. He is now the head teacher of Sing’theatre Academy where he runs musical theatre classes developing triple threat skills and nurturing a community of future musical theatre performers. TJ also has a successful private voice studio where he coaches local performers in singing technique. He is also a part-time lecturer at LASALLE College of the Arts where he teaches singing technique on the Musical Theatre and Acting degrees. He has recently performed at Universal Studios as well as many cabaret performances in Singapore.
From England, Jenilee graduated with a BA(Hons) Musical Theatre from the Arts Educational School, London. Performing took Jenilee around the World in a variety of stage productions such as ‘Annie’ in Hong Kong and at Marina Bay Sands, here in Singapore.
Jenilee was the Lead Production Singer on a cruise liner for South Africa and the Mediterranean, as well as many musical credits in London and the UK for stage and screen. Highlights include ‘Fly with the Stars’ at the London Palladium, ‘Betwixt!’ at the Ambassadors Theatre in London’s West End, ‘Best of West End’ at the Leicester Square Theatre, playing the lead role of Roberta in ‘The Railway Children’ showcase at The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, performing in various pantomime’s and taking the role of Dance Captain on Dick Whittington. Most recently Jenilee performed as a Nun in ‘The Sound of Music’ at Marina Bay Sands.
Jenilee has taught Musical Theatre, Creative Drama and Early Years at MCTB (UK), Expressions (UK) and Centre Stage School of the Arts (Singapore).
Jenilee currently performs regularly for Sing’Theatre on various projects including ‘Sing Me A Story’ @ NUH and Music Fest @ SGH.
Samantha loves singing and performing and has been taking ballet, piano and voice lessons since she was 4 years old. Samantha has performed in the “Sing for Japan” fundraising concert, “Hope Concert”. Samantha performed in Wild rice’s annual Christmas Pantomime “Aladdin” in Dec 2011, “Hansel and Gretel” in Dec 2012 and “Jack and Bean sprouts” in Dec 2013. In March 2014, Samantha successfully auditioned for a role in the West End musical production of “Sound of Music” in Singapore Marina Bay Sands Theatre. She was cast as “Marta”, one of the von Trapp children. When Sound of Music returned to Singapore in Nov 2017, Samantha was cast in the show again and this time as “Louisa”. Currently, a vocal student at Sing’theatre Academy, Samantha attends weekly singing lessons and participates in many charity and community concerts organized by the school.
Nanami is Australian Japanese, going to St Joseph International school.
She has been learning street dance since she was 5 years old. She has performed in several companies such as Mediacorp, Okto, Esplanade, Sketchers, and local musical company. She has trained at Sing’theatre, Centre Stage and Recognize Studio.
