30 November 2022, Wednesday – Steinway & Sons and Singapore Raffles Music College (SRMC) ink Memorandum of Understanding for new educational development partnership to uplift public awareness for music and support the professional skills development of young children, youth and existing musicians.
Steinway & Sons and Singapore Raffles Music College (SRMC) has signed a two year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 30 November 2022 (Wednesday) at Singapore Raffles Music College’s Recital Studio.
The ceremony is marked with a performance by Singapore’s very own Steinway artist Benjamin Loh and SRMC’s piano faculty students, with a focus on industry collaboration and artistic explorations. The MOU seeks to formalise the partnership between Steinway & Sons and SRMC with the purpose of nurturing the music scene in Singapore.
The MOU is signed by Steinway & Son’s General Manager, Ms Celine Goh and SRMC Executive Director Mr Ryan Goh. Under the agreement, both organisations aim to promote the practice and appreciation of the physical and mental benefits of playing music such as relaxation, creative expression, and fun and joy.
“I’m very pleased that Singapore Raffles Music College has decided to work with Steinway so closely to nurture young students and musicians by providing the best concert-quality instruments.” says General Manager, Ms Celine Goh. “To the students, I would like you to use this opportunity to improve yourself and be a better musician. We should all aim for to find your very own identity and unique voice in this journey of self exploration in the art of piano-playing.”
This partnership will leverage strengths from both organisations, with Steinway providing the finest pianos and SRMC students developing professionally, at no extra cost. A range of new Steinway Pianos will be available for SRMC students and its stakeholders to use at SRMC campus from November. This is in line with the Steinway & Sons and SRMC’s vision to enhance professional knowledge and skills across the Arts sector on a whole.
This partnership directly aligns with National Arts Council’s (NAC) mission to champion the creation and appreciation of the arts as an integral part of Singaporeans’ lives.
